Following edition of Grand OFF - World OFF Film Awards will take place 26th- 28th November 2010 in Warsaw!
To the Award Ceremony we invite you on the 27th of November 2010 to the Kamienica Theater in Warsaw.
GRAND OFF – World Off Film Awards is the most important event promoting independent cinema in Poland and one of the most significant initiatives of its kind all over the world. Independent cinema came into existence along with the invention of camera and it can nowadays boast numerous extraordinary productions. Thus, independent film should be held in high esteem and is ceratinly worthy of a more detailed attention.
GRAND OFF - World Off Film Awards aim to draw our attention towards the independent cinema phenomenon, raise its prestige and invest it with a new significance. The festival aspires to show independent film industry in a different light, in the light of fame and respect that both the films and their authors deserve. The honourable Grand Off awards and the official ceremony are meant to highlight the great significance of the filmmakers and the high value of their works, which stem from their unspoken passion for film.
Starting from the year 2006, European independent films received nominations in 9 categories: directing, scriptwriting, editing, cinematography, best actor, best actress, best feature film, best documentary and best animation. In the year 2008, one additional category, namely the Best Non-European Production was added. In the light of extraordinary popularity of the category among the pictures submitted to the Awards as well as the films' enthusiastic reception among the audience and critics alike, we have decided to open up Grand OFF, European OFF Film awards towards pictures from all over the world! That is how Grand OFF, European Off Film Awards have turned into Grand OFF, World Off Film Awards!
Moreover, the year 2009 marked the introduction of an entirely new award category, namely the Lifetime Contribution Prize. The filmmaker who receives the Award is an honourable guest of the festival, charting the artistic trends for the generations of independent filmmakers to come!
GRAND OFF – World Off Film Awards are a gateway to the magical world of independent cinema. We would hereby like to invite all the cinema connoisseurs, demanding audiences and independent filmmakers from all over the world to step into this magical world!
